Local authorities confirmed that the incident happened around 9:30 a.m. at SGI Magnetic Materials Factory, located in Tam Hiep commune, Nui Thanh district. The explosion reportedly originated from a coating machine.

Upon receiving the report, emergency services and local authorities rushed to the scene to investigate and transport the injured to the hospital for treatment.

The Quang Nam Central General Hospital later confirmed that its emergency department received 12 patients with burn injuries from the blast.

One patient suffered severe burns covering 60–70% of their body. The individual underwent burn debridement, received pain management and anti-shock treatment, and is currently in intensive care.

Three other patients sustained burns under 10% along with other wounds. Two are being treated at the Trauma Surgery Department, while one was transferred to Quang Nam General Hospital for further care.

The remaining eight patients experienced multiple soft tissue injuries and heat-induced fainting. After medical assessment and treatment, they were discharged to recover at home.

Authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the explosion.

Later in the day, Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee, Tran Nam Hung, visited the hospitalized victims at the Quang Nam Central General Hospital.

During his visit, Mr. Hung offered words of encouragement and financial assistance - 5 million VND (approximately $200 USD) for each seriously injured patient, and 2 million VND (about $80 USD) for those with minor injuries.

He also instructed SGI Vina, the company operating the factory, to fulfill its responsibility to support affected workers and to rigorously enforce workplace safety protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Company representatives pledged to cover all medical expenses and provide appropriate support packages to ensure workers' rights and welfare are protected.
