In recent days, the surface of Tri An Lake near Ben Nom 2 Hamlet (Thong Nhat Commune, Dong Nai Province) has taken on a surreal look. Patches of green algae spread across the lake like an emerald carpet in the midst of pristine nature.

From above, the patches of green algae intertwine with earthy tones, forming a vivid natural painting.

The shade of algae shifts depending on the sunlight hitting the lake’s surface. After rainfall, the green hues become more subdued.

According to locals, algae typically appear from June to September, when the lake’s water level drops. Although not an unusual phenomenon, the algae's annual return adds an element of surprise and beauty to the lake.

Ben Nom is also home to Phu Cuong fishing dock, where local fishermen gather to harvest aquatic products from Tri An Lake. Their boats rest side by side along the shoreline, set against the contrast of brown earth and bright green algae.

This natural painting not only delights travelers but also serves as a source of inspiration for photographers.

Nguyen Van Anh, a photographer from Tam Hiep Ward, Dong Nai, shared that the algae season at Tri An Lake holds a uniquely captivating beauty. The landscape changes with the light, making each photograph striking.

“I often visit Ben Nom at dawn, just as the sun breaks through the clouds. The algae gradually shift from deep green to turquoise, then reflect a golden hue as the sun rises. It’s stunning,” he said.

Without bustling crowds or commercial tourism services, the area remains untouched and pristine.

Nguyen Van Son, a veteran fisherman deeply connected to Tri An Lake, said that while algae appear every year, they are mostly found in Ben Nom 2. The algae sometimes resemble young grass fields and at times glisten in the sunlight.

“Locals call it the season when the lake changes its coat. Recently, more young people have been coming here to take photos and shoot videos. It’s heartwarming to see the beauty of nature drawing so much attention,” Son added.

Covering an area of 323 square kilometers, Tri An Lake spans across multiple communes in Dong Nai. Each area offers its own distinct landscape, but perhaps the most mesmerizing is the algae season, which turns the lake into a living painting that captivates anyone who loves nature's beauty.
