"Lilo & Stitch" is a beloved name among global audiences, including Vietnamese fans. Its films and animated series are deeply intertwined with childhood memories for generations. This summer, Disney is set to release a live-action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch with a staggering production budget of $100 million. The film will also feature a Vietnamese-dubbed version, with actor Tien Luat voicing the mischievous alien Stitch.
Similar to the original 2002 animated classic, the story begins with Dr. Jumba (Zach Galifianakis), an alien scientist notorious for genetically engineering destructive creatures. One of his creations, Experiment 626 (voiced by Chris Sanders), is a near-indestructible being with an extraordinary capacity to learn and evolve.
Experiment 626 escapes from captivity and crash-lands on Earth, specifically on the Hawaiian Islands, where he is adopted by a spirited young girl named Lilo (Maia Kealoha). She gives him the name Stitch. Over time, Stitch begins to understand the true meaning of family. However, neither Lilo nor Stitch realizes that Dr. Jumba’s alien bounty hunters are hot on their trail.
The original animated film was a massive success, earning $273 million globally on an $80 million budget. It sparked a wave of spin-off series and comics that captivated audiences worldwide.
The live-action Lilo & Stitch will premiere in Vietnam on May 23 - the same day as the latest Doraemon movie.

Doraemon: Nobita and the art world adventure is the 44th installment in the long-running Doraemon movie franchise. This film marks the 45th anniversary of the beloved character’s cinematic journey. It introduces a fresh and imaginative adventure that blends the world of fine art with Doraemon's signature creativity.
Fans will once again reunite with familiar faces from previous Doraemon stories. The gang will venture into a visually stunning art world, navigating strange challenges where friendship and the power of creativity triumph over all.
Directed by veteran filmmaker Yukiyo Teramoto, Doraemon: Nobita and the art world adventure will be available in both subtitled and dubbed formats in Vietnam. The Vietnamese-dubbed version features a familiar voice cast who have accompanied the franchise for decades, along with special appearances by Lam Vy Da’s son and celebrity couple Salim and Hai Long.
As two iconic animated franchises beloved by generations of Vietnamese fans hit theaters simultaneously, this late-May release is set to ignite a thrilling cinematic face-off just as the school year comes to a close.
