The relaunch of the Vietnam-China international train route has generated significant interest among the public.
On May 22, a representative from Vietnam Railways provided detailed information on departure times, ticket prices, and travel procedures for the upcoming route.
From May 25, two trains - MR1 and MR2 - will run daily between Gia Lam Station (Hanoi) and Nanning Station (China).
Train MR1 departs Gia Lam at 9:20 PM and arrives in Nanning at 10:06 AM the following day. On the return route, train MR2 leaves Nanning at 6:05 PM and arrives in Gia Lam at 5:30 AM the next day.
Passengers will complete immigration procedures at Dong Dang Station in Lang Son (Vietnam) and Pingxiang Station in Guangxi (China).
“Notably, beginning May 27, the two countries will operate a direct train from Gia Lam Station (Hanoi) to Beijing West Station (China),” the Vietnam Railways representative said.
The train will depart from Gia Lam at 9:20 PM every Tuesday and Friday, arriving in Beijing West on Thursdays and Sundays. Passengers may also purchase tickets for travel to third countries at international railway stations within China.
In Vietnam, in addition to selling tickets to international destinations in China, Vietnam Railways will also sell domestic tickets from Gia Lam to Bac Giang and Dong Dang stations, and vice versa.
Ticket prices are approximately 1,000,000 VND (about 40 USD) per leg for the Hanoi–Nanning route, and 9,378,000 VND (about 380 USD) for Hanoi–Beijing. Children under 4 years old travel free, while those aged 4–12 receive a 50% discount (one child per accompanying adult). Groups of six or more passengers receive a 25% discount.
Tickets can be purchased directly at Hanoi, Gia Lam, Bac Giang, and Dong Dang stations.
“Currently, international rail travel between Vietnam and China is increasingly convenient, with immigration procedures completed directly at international train stations,” the representative noted.
Passengers traveling from Vietnam to Nanning via international rail can easily connect to China’s extensive high-speed train network, making travel to destinations throughout the country fast and accessible.
