To ensure privacy and comfort, the couple booked a VIP air-conditioned sleeper cabin with two beds, totaling 3.6 million VND ($140).
“We had quite a bit of luggage and wanted our own space to rest, so we reserved a VIP cabin with two beds,” Geoff explained. “The cost was 1.8 million VND (about $70) per person.”
Despite the affordable price, Geoff said the space and service exceeded expectations. The only downside was the lack of a private bathroom. However, shared restrooms were clean and well-equipped, and each cabin had a wash basin in the hallway for convenience.
Alexa was also pleased with the cabin's interior, praising its clean and tidy layout. The large window allowed them to gaze freely at the passing landscape.
The room came with fresh bedding, a tea table, and ample storage space under the beds and near the door.
“There was plenty of room for our luggage - both under the bed and in overhead compartments,” Alexa described.
Aside from the design, Alexa appreciated the complimentary snacks and bottled water provided in the cabin. She was also eager to sample light meals offered by onboard attendants as they passed through.
“She was excited that full meals were served on the train. For lunch, we had grilled chicken with rice, boiled vegetables, and soup,” Geoff added.
Their train departed at 8:00 a.m. and arrived in Ho Chi Minh City at 4:20 a.m. the next day.
After more than 20 hours aboard the high-quality train, the couple felt satisfied with the experience. They noted the smooth ride allowed for remote work, sightseeing, light exercise, and rest.
In addition, they enjoyed seeing a different side of Vietnam - from peaceful rural villages to vast oceans and majestic mountains.
“During the ride, we got a lot done - from reading and working to enjoying meals and admiring the beauty of each region we passed,” Alexa shared.
