On April 19, the two Comac aircraft officially began service in Vietnam, operating two routes: Hanoi - Con Dao and Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, from April 19 to May 22, the two Comac aircraft carried out a total of 254 commercial flights. Throughout more than a month of actual operations, there were no technical incidents affecting flight safety. All flights were conducted safely.

In terms of operational efficiency, by May 22, the aircraft had completed 254 flights over 34 days, transporting 16,306 passengers to and from Con Dao.

However, the Civil Aviation Authority's report pointed out some initial limitations, notably the relatively high rate of delays and cancellations, with 98 delayed flights and 12 canceled out of 254.

The main causes for the delays and cancellations were weather conditions in Con Dao and operational regulations imposed by Chinese aviation authorities. All delays and cancellations were handled according to Vietjet Air’s standard procedures.

A representative from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam emphasized that, in the context of a tight aircraft supply while domestic demand continues to grow, the introduction of these two Chinese aircraft into service provides passengers with more travel options.

The deployment of Comac aircraft on domestic routes is seen as a cautious, step-by-step approach to further assess the potential and compatibility of this aircraft type under Vietnam’s operational conditions.

The Ministry of Construction and the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam continue to place flight safety as their top priority, considering it vital to the development of the aviation and tourism sectors in the country.
