
According to Downdetector, a platform that monitors real-time outages, the disruption began around 1:45 PM Vietnam time and quickly spread across the UK, Europe, North America, and Australia.
In Vietnam, users also took to social media to report that they were unable to access the chatbot.
Numerous Facebook pages and groups shared updates confirming that ChatGPT had crashed. Screenshot evidence showed widespread disruptions.
Besides ChatGPT, OpenAI’s image generation tool, Sora, has also encountered problems. Users are seeing error messages or unable to load the app altogether.
OpenAI has acknowledged the outage and confirmed it is aware of the issue. As of the time of writing, the service interruption has lasted more than five hours.
In a test conducted by VietNamNet on the evening of June 10, ChatGPT failed to respond to any prompts, further confirming the platform-wide failure.
ChatGPT, which was launched in late 2022, is a well-known generative AI chatbot developed by OpenAI. According to Brad Lightcap, OpenAI’s Chief Operating Officer, the service currently has 400 million weekly users and is expected to reach 1 billion users by the end of 2025.
Data from Semrush indicates that ChatGPT.com receives approximately 5.2 billion visits per month, with 605.1 million unique visitors.
While waiting for OpenAI to resolve the issue, users are turning to alternative AI chatbots such as Google Gemini and Grok.
