From late April through early May, the park enters peak butterfly season. This is the most enchanting time of year for Cuc Phuong, drawing crowds who come not only to witness nature’s vibrant display but also to take photos and create lasting memories.

The deeper visitors venture into the forest, the more they encounter dazzling butterflies in shades of yellow, white, orange, red, blue, and brown. This time of year also coincides with the butterflies’ breeding season, adding to the magic of the experience. Swarms of butterflies flutter across forest paths, creating a surreal and mesmerizing scene.

The density of butterflies depends on the weather. Sunny days typically see more butterflies on display than cooler, overcast ones.

According to Pham Kien Cuong, Director of the Environmental Education and Services Center at Cuc Phuong National Park, this year’s butterfly season arrived later than usual but is expected to last through June.

Currently, the butterfly migration is at its most vibrant, with millions of butterflies soaring across the forest canopy.

Waves of butterflies dance in the air like drifting petals, occasionally landing gently on visitors’ hands, providing a rare and intimate connection with nature.

Travelers can reach Cuc Phuong by car or motorbike. The park spans over 22,000 hectares and, according to research, is home to more than 300 species of butterflies.
