On the morning of July 21, a representative from the Halong Bay Management Board confirmed that around 9:30 a.m., the rescue team recovered the boy’s body near the Ti Top Island area.
Immediately afterward, the body was brought back to shore by boat and taken to Bai Chay Hospital, where authorities are working to determine the child's identity.
At the site of the Vinh Xanh 58 tour boat capsizing, a representative from the Halong Bay Management Board added that the body would be returned to the mainland for the family and officials to confirm whether the child was one of the passengers aboard the vessel.
Rescue teams will continue deploying in multiple directions to search for additional missing victims. The only circumstance that would temporarily halt search efforts is if Typhoon Wipha brings dangerously rough seas, making operations impossible.
