On July 21, a working session was held at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism headquarters between Tran Hoang, Director of the Copyright Office of Vietnam, and Armand Jr Gacho, Southeast Asia Licensing Advisory Lead at Adobe (USA), focusing on digital copyright protection and cybersecurity collaboration.

At the meeting, Adobe’s representative shared that the company has been actively working with major e-commerce platforms such as Lazada, Shopee, and Tiki to mitigate software copyright infringement. However, curbing these violations in the digital environment remains a challenge, requiring stronger collaboration between government agencies and businesses.

Adobe is currently engaged with countries such as Thailand and Singapore, providing advanced creative software for content production, image and video editing, with a strong focus on security and intellectual property rights.

In Vietnam, although Adobe has not yet established a local office, it has partnered with official distributors and authorized resellers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to supply licensed software, including special packages tailored for public sector institutions.

Adobe expressed a strong interest in expanding cooperation with Vietnamese ministries, agencies, and organizations through consulting activities, secure software usage guidance, and awareness campaigns on digital copyright and cybersecurity.

The company emphasized that using unlicensed software is not only illegal but also detrimental to economic development.

Director Tran Hoang commended Adobe’s proactive engagement in Vietnam, noting that Adobe software is widely used in content creation, especially within the cultural sector and digital platforms. He highlighted that expanding access to licensed software contributes not only to creativity but also enhances cybersecurity and information safety.

He also affirmed that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism continually instructs its departments to establish legal frameworks in alignment with both domestic laws and international conventions to which Vietnam is a signatory. Effectively enforcing intellectual property laws is key to nurturing the creative community while ensuring balanced interests among stakeholders.

To raise public awareness on copyright in creative industries, businesses, and user communities, the Copyright Office frequently organizes thematic workshops and promotes international cooperation in digital copyright. The Ministry is also enhancing coordination with law enforcement, market surveillance, trade authorities, and other relevant agencies to ensure robust law enforcement.

The Copyright Office encouraged Adobe to continue sharing technical expertise and ensure that Vietnamese users can access officially distributed Adobe products. The agency also suggested that Adobe consider offering pricing policies suited to emerging markets like Vietnam.

Finally, the Office proposed that Adobe explore establishing a representative office in Vietnam to better support the country’s growing base of creative software users.
