In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, a delegation of 100 media leaders and journalists from across the country will visit Truong Sa island district and the DK1 offshore platform from May 23 to 29.

Working under the name “Mission Group 25,” the delegation is led by Colonel Do Hong Duyen, Deputy Political Commissar of Naval Region 2. Accompanying him as deputy head is Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association.

Strengthening bonds through solidarity

According to the mission plan, the delegation will meet with and present gifts to officers, soldiers, and residents on the Truong Sa archipelago and DK1 platform, offering encouragement and support.

On May 22, the Naval Region 2 Command held a task briefing session in Ho Chi Minh City. Delegates also participated in a commitment-signing ceremony for a competitive emulation movement among working teams.

Speaking at the event, Le Quoc Minh affirmed that all relevant units have made thorough and proactive preparations to ensure the mission’s success.

Gifts and solidarity from the press community

Representing the Vietnamese press community and accompanying organizations, Le Quoc Minh presented a donation of VND 1.7 billion (approx. USD 66,000) to the Vietnam People's Navy for the construction of CQ-01 patrol boats. In addition, 15 solar power systems worth VND 1.68 billion (approx. USD 65,000) were donated, along with numerous gifts contributed by members of the delegation for the islands.

Le Quoc Minh launched an emulation drive under the theme: Solidarity, compassion, achievement, victory, emphasizing the mission’s goal to strengthen ties and provide spiritual support to naval personnel.

The trip aims to motivate officers and soldiers to remain steadfast, dedicated to their units, the islands, and platforms. It reinforces their resolve to stay stationed at the frontlines, defending Vietnam’s maritime sovereignty and contributing to peace, stability, and national development.
