Meteorologists at the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting have released their outlook for the 10-day period from April 20 to April 29, 2025.

A trough of low pressure located between 25-28°N, connected to a western low-pressure system, is expected to be compressed and shift southward around April 21-22. It will then be overtaken by a continental high-pressure system from the north. In the upper atmosphere, the subtropical high is forecast to strengthen and expand westward before stabilizing.
Due to the influence of these synoptic patterns, weather conditions across the country will see notable shifts, especially in the North, where intense heat will give way to scattered thunderstorms and cooler temperatures.
Northern Vietnam:
From April 20 to 22, expect hot days and scattered evening showers or thunderstorms. On April 20, peak temperatures of 35-37°C are forecast for mountainous and midland areas, with some locations exceeding 38°C. Relative humidity will drop to 50-55%. Localized heatwaves may also occur in the Red River Delta, with highs above 35°C.
On April 21, widespread heat is expected with highs of 35-37°C, potentially surpassing 38°C in some areas. The heatwave will persist until approximately April 22.
From April 23 to 25, under the influence of a weak cold front, the region will see scattered showers and thunderstorms, with localized heavy rain, mostly in the late afternoon and evening. Temperatures will drop by 4-5°C afterward.
From Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen:
From April 20 to 22, dry nights and scorching days are expected, with some areas seeing extreme heat. On April 20 and 21, highs will range from 35-38°C, with some locations exceeding 38°C. Humidity will fall to 45-50%.
From April 23 to 29, heat will gradually subside. In northern parts of the region, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected from the evening of April 23 through April 24, with isolated areas seeing heavy rainfall.
Other regions (including the Central Highlands and Southern Vietnam):
From April 20 to 29, isolated showers and thunderstorms may occur in the evening and overnight. Days will be mostly sunny, with localized heatwaves. In the Central Highlands and the South, highs of 35-36°C are expected, with some areas exceeding 36°C. Humidity will range from 55-60%.
Hanoi:
From April 20 to 22, expect sunny days with localized heat on April 20, escalating to widespread heat by April 22 with temperatures reaching up to 37°C. Evening showers and thunderstorms are possible but unlikely.
From April 23 to 25, scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast in the late afternoon and evening, with a possibility of localized heavy rain. Conditions will later shift to occasional light rain and thunderstorms.
