On June 3, local police and conservation officials conducted an on-site examination to determine the cause of death of Le Van T., a resident of Ma Da commune, Vinh Cuu district.

According to initial reports, around 4 p.m. on June 2, residents spotted a group of approximately four elephants near a farm bordering the natural forest within the Dong Nai Culture and Nature Reserve. The elephants damaged local crops in Hamlet 4 of Ma Da commune before retreating into the forest.

Around 9 p.m. that evening, the same herd reportedly returned to the area near Le Van T.’s farm. In response, Mr. T. went out to drive the elephants back into the forest.

Tragically, the next morning, villagers found his body roughly 100 meters from his house and alerted local authorities.

Following a preliminary investigation of the scene, officials concluded that the man’s death was likely caused by an encounter with the wild elephants.
