At around 1:30 p.m. on June 28, a fire broke out at an aluminum melting workshop in Dong Mai craft village (Minh Hai commune, Van Lam district, Hung Yen province). The blaze rapidly spread across a warehouse spanning several hundred square meters, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and injuries to three others.

The fire, which erupted in a facility storing oil and other flammable materials, produced intense flames and thick smoke columns visible from afar. Eyewitnesses reported a series of loud explosions, followed by fireballs erupting into the air.

The structure involved was a temporary building with a metal frame and corrugated iron roof. At the time of the incident, approximately ten workers were present. Four managed to escape, including the workshop manager. The remaining workers, mostly from mountainous regions, were trapped inside. Some were later rescued in an unconscious state.

A representative of the Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police Department of Hung Yen Province confirmed that the fire caused four fatalities and injured three others.

The fire was discovered around 2 p.m. in the scrap recycling workshop in Minh Hai commune, Van Lam district. The building’s large corrugated iron structure collapsed under intense heat.

Firefighters both extinguished the blaze and evacuated wooden materials from nearby facilities to prevent further spread.

Witnesses stated the fire originated from a pile of scrap and quickly engulfed the building. Due to the abundance of flammable materials, on-site firefighting efforts faced significant difficulties.

Recognizing that individuals were trapped inside, the fire and rescue team made continuous efforts to reach victims, successfully rescuing several.

Among the victims, four were confirmed dead. Three others sustained severe injuries and were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.

Authorities have yet to release the identities of the deceased and injured individuals.

By 7:15 p.m., local police reported that firefighting efforts were still ongoing to fully contain the fire and prevent reignition.
