According to initial information, around 1:30 p.m. on May 17, at the residence located at 6/15 Ly Nam De Street (Group 5, Phu Dong Ward, Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province), a 9-year-old boy, D.L.L., climbed onto the edge of an uncovered well to play. The lack of a protective cover caused the child to fall into the deep well.

Upon witnessing the accident, the boy's father, D.B.D., 40, immediately jumped in to save his son. However, due to the well's depth and the impact sustained while descending, he was injured and unable to climb back up.

A relative of the victims, N.T.T.M. (born 1993), quickly contacted emergency services.

Upon receiving the call, the Gia Lai Provincial Police Department of Fire Prevention and Rescue promptly dispatched one rescue vehicle, one equipment transport vehicle, and 17 officers to the scene.

Upon arrival, the rescue team assessed that the well was 35 meters deep, with a 1-meter diameter and about 1 meter of water at the bottom. The two victims were still alive but had multiple injuries and were in a state of shock. The well contained toxic gases and lacked oxygen. Without timely oxygen support, the victims could have lost their lives.

Authorities swiftly developed and executed a rescue plan.

By 3:25 p.m. the same day, both father and son were safely brought to the surface and immediately handed over to medical personnel for examination and care.
