“Binh Dinh has allocated 20 hectares for the project - all clean land. Most legal procedures are completed,” said Pham Anh Tuan, Chairman of Binh Dinh People’s Committee, as the province prepares to launch an international-standard renewable energy training center.

A memorandum of understanding for the project was signed in Quy Nhon between the Binh Dinh People’s Committee and GEO Group - Germany’s leading renewable energy corporation.

According to the agreement, GEO will partner with O-Door Vietnam to form a joint venture to invest in the renewable energy training center in Phu My district. With an estimated USD 50 million investment, the center will meet international standards and annually train and certify thousands of technicians with GWO (Global Wind Organisation) credentials in wind power, solar power, and green hydrogen sectors.

The training program will be transferred and accredited by reputable international organizations, equipping graduates to work in domestic and international energy companies or implement green technical models locally.

Binh Dinh offers full support for rapid implementation

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Chairman Pham Anh Tuan emphasized that the event not only marks collaboration between Binh Dinh and an international investor but also reflects the province’s commitment to becoming a regional leader in clean energy and green workforce training.

The province will fully facilitate the project - from finalizing the 1:500 detailed planning and adjusting land-use plans to applying investment incentive policies per current regulations.

“Legal issues are nearly complete. The 20-hectare site is located near the coast and is all clean land. Once the investment certificate is issued, the company can immediately begin construction,” Chairman Tuan affirmed.

GEO Group Chairman Franz Josef Claes expressed strong confidence in Vietnam’s renewable energy potential, particularly in Binh Dinh. He hopes the center will not only train Vietnamese professionals but also serve as a prestigious institution for Southeast Asia. GEO is committed to delivering the most advanced technology in pursuit of a truly circular renewable industry.

Homan Seyedin, GEO’s Marketing and Business Director for Asia, noted that GEO was the first German company to conceptualize wind farms and remains a leader in project development and cutting-edge turbine R&D. GEO plans to transfer this technology to Vietnam, with Binh Dinh as the direct beneficiary.

Seyedin also shared plans to construct two demonstration wind turbines in Binh Dinh - one using GEO’s technology and the other from an external provider - allowing trainees to compare systems firsthand. The training center will feature both offshore training modules and an indoor simulation area that replicates natural offshore conditions like waves, wind, and storms, ensuring trainees are thoroughly prepared.

Additionally, the project includes a factory that will produce hydrogen-based components. This facility will support hands-on learning, research, and technology transfer related to hydrogen processing.

Currently, GEO operates 22 training centers across 12 countries, but the Binh Dinh project is the first fully designed and executed independently by GEO.
